Three Reasons Why You Need an Engagement Session | Engagement Photographer

Q

Sometimes I get asked, “Why do I need an Engagement Photographer, anyway? “What’s the point?” Or, “I’m already getting wedding photos, why is this necessary?”  And, let me tell you, there’s a lot of reasons! Some of them are not as obvious as others, and here’s why:

Practice Makes Perfect

It gives both clients a chance to be in front of a professional camera before they get married! I always tell soon-to-be married couples that most of the time, the grooms are actually nervous! They’ve not had a lot of experience in front of a camera. This helps build their confidence for the wedding day. And, seeing how confident the groom becomes from engagement session to wedding day is one of my favorite things! When you get a chance to practice on an engagement session, it makes the wedding day feel smooth and seamless. I get to show up to the wedding and the grooms now know exactly what to do, remembering how to stand, and my prompts. Your engagement session is a practice run – is kind of like a rehearsal dinner!

Gives you a chance to know your engagement photographer

It’s one hundred percent true that the photographer is the person you’ll see most on your wedding day, other than your significant other! Because, I get to follow you everywhere to make sure I’m present to capture not only the important moments, but also all the beautiful little candid moments that tell the story of who you are! So, it’s important for us to gain a relationship. Especially one that’s more than talking back and forth through email. Developing this relationship allows me to know some things to look out for, to help with insecurities, and talk more in depth about the things you really want from photography!

It is a special time in your lives!

Simply put, you’re only engaged once. It’s a really special time in your lives, and getting to take photos to commemorate that time makes an engagement session special. And, when the Engagement photographer is done taking photos of you two, you even get to make a date night out of it! You’re already dressed up, so why not take a moment from your hectic schedules and just celebrate this beautiful moment in your lives.

I truly believe an engagement session is worth it! These are the photos you get to share and print and even show off during your wedding day. They can be made into invitations, save the dates, and profile pictures on social media. Plus, let’s just be honest, taking pictures of you guys and capturing your love is just fun!
