Josh and Prisca are two of the sweetest people there are and I was so happy to take pictures for their Arkansas elopement! They are one of those couples who have been together since high school. They put off their wedding for a while, and everyone they knew thought they were already married! Then the pandemic hit, and they had to postpone their wedding even further. Finally they just decided to elope! They didn’t need a big wedding!
They both virtually attend a church in Gravette AR and wanted their pastor to marry them there. Here’s the thing: They both live almost 300 miles away! So, the fact that they came out to the church, married each other, and then drove another 50 miles in the same day and took pictures is just amazing. But, they would get to spend the entirety of the day together just getting some really awesome photos. That’s what they wanted and that’s what they’d get!
However, things weren’t going the way we wanted them to go. The day this was all planned for showed thunderstorms and rain showers all day! Their wedding would be fine, but the photos were all planned for the outdoors. So, they just asked if we could just take their wedding photos the day before their wedding – and how could I say no?! That’s what’s so awesome and fun about elopements. You have the flexibility to change things around to focus on whatever is most important to you.
And, it worked out perfectly! Because, the day we took photos was beautiful. It had some of the best weather we had all year, and the lighting was gorgeous!
We started at St. Catherine’s at Bell Gable. I love this venue! The chapel it’s so beautiful in and of itself, but the property it sits on is just as gorgeous. There’s so much you can do and so many options for photos. So, we began taking photos on the grounds, and got some really beautiful shots.
Next up was the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel. Josh and Prisca really wanted a lot of beautiful pictures, and they loved these two chapels so much, they didn’t want to pick just one. So, they just did both. I loved it! We arrived at this chapel right at golden hour. It’s a beautiful chapel, made almost entirely of glass and tucked in the woods surrounded by trees. It is such a beautiful setting for photos, and a great place to marry your best friend!
I truly admire Prisca and Josh, and loved the way they took care of each other throughout the session. They were so mindful of each other and just happy to be there. It was nice to get to know them and who they are on such a relaxing day before their Arkansas elopement!
