Vendor Feature: Regan Johnston Makeup Arkansas Wedding Vendor

Q

As a wedding photographer for the last 6 years, I have worked with SO many different vendors in the wedding industry. Arkansas is a hidden gem state full of some of the most talented people I have ever met.

As your photographer, it would be wrong for me to hide all of this knowledge and amazing talent from you, so we are going to feature one of the best bridal makeup artists in the industry!

HER INSPIRATION

Let me introduce you to Regan Johnston! She decided to become a professional makeup artist because makeup has always been something that she has loved since she was a little girl.

“I love the stories it tells, the way it makes people feel, and the confidence it brings. Being a professional makeup artist in the wedding industry is so rewarding because when you see the bride’s look on their face whenever they see their look complete, it brings joy and tears to my eyes. I can see that they feel beautiful and that I’ve done the look that they have always envisioned for themselves.”

PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP IS A BIG DEAL

As a photographer, I encourage my brides to have their makeup done professionally for their sessions and especially for their wedding! I could go on and on about why I think it’s important, but I thought we should hear it from the pro herself!

I asked Regan to give us her top 4 reasons why it’s important to have your makeup done professionally for your wedding and here is what she said:

  1. On your wedding day you should be pampered, you should feel the most special you’ve ever felt. This is an added bonus and easement for the day of your wedding.
  2. The professionals know how it’s done. We know how to make sure that your makeup lasts through the heat, the cold, the rain, etc. We know how to make the makeup stand the test of time.
  3. For most brides, you will want to be a little extra glam on that special day. Your MUA is there to make sure you look and feel your best, while still looking like you, but just a little bit more!
  4. Pictures, pictures, pictures. We have spent hours on researching and trial and error to make sure the products we use are the best products to use for photography. While some products might be great for everyday wear, they might not look as good when you are using flash photography. Having a MUA (Makeup Artist) you trust and love will help you love your wedding photos that you will hang in your house for the rest of your life.

HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT MUA

My last question for Regan was what advice she had for bride’s looking for the best makeup artist suited for them and this is what she had to say:

“Brides should look at the Instagrams of make up artists and really see the work that they do on other brides. Determine the style of makeup you would want on your wedding day (full glam, soft glam, minimal, etc.) and find a makeup artist that suits your ideas. Always make sure to schedule a trial with your makeup artist to discuss your look prior to your wedding day to make sure you and the artist are always on the same page. MUA’s are here for you and to make sure you are the most stress free on a day you will remember forever!”
