Sarah and Jarod’s Southern Boho wedding at Acres on Holland was a relaxing and fun day full of happy tears, tender moments and a lot of laughs!
I met Sarah through the gym we both attended years ago, and she ended up becoming my regular massage therapist! Sarah is such a hard worker and I admired how she grew her business and how she treats everyone she meets with love and open arms.
I was so excited when she asked me to photograph her wedding day! I was able to finally meet Jarod at their engagement session and I could tell that these two have the sweetest and most loving relationship! We had a blast during their engagement session hiking in the dark down from Yellow Rock Trail and I loved having that time with them before their wedding day.
Getting Ready
Since Covid, most weddings I had been photographing were more intimate and smaller so I was so excited when I found out they were having a big wedding with a big wedding party! There’s just something about a big group of your closest friends to party and hype you up!
We had some fun with a champagne pop and toasts with the girls in their mix matched floral robes outside! It was fun seeing Sarah with some of her childhood best friends and friends from college. They were a great group and there were a lot of laughs when Sarah got excited with the champagne pop!
Something special that I loved from Sarah getting her dress on with her mom, was that Sarah had some of her moms wedding dress sewn into her own dress! It was such a sweet moment and I could tell it meant a lot for both of them.
First Look
We implemented a few different first looks into the timeline because these special moments and relationships meant so much to Sarah. I personally love it when my couples do first looks, not just with eachother, but with their bridesmaids or parents or grandparents, it just adds so much more meaning to the day.
When Sarah did a first look with her father, there wasn’t a dry eye around! It was so sweet seeing how her dad was just in awe of her and I loved that he had to take out his handkerchief to wipe away his happy tears.
Sarah and Jarod seeing each other for the first time before the ceremony was one for the books! Jarod had the biggest smile on his face and immediately gave her the biggest hug! He couldn’t stop smiling and I was so excited for these two to finally seal the deal!
The Ceremony
Their ceremony was held outside of the main barn at Acres on Holland. I really loved the set up for the ceremony, it was unique and had two levels for seating. That way everyone was able to get a perfect view of the ceremony. They the aisle started up top and they walked down the rock steps to the base of the main barn. The florals were absolutely phenomenal done by Butterfly Kisses Florals, some of my favorite fall colors for a wedding!
The Reception
I loved the inside of the barn at Acres on Holland because it was all white with beautiful wood beams. There were two hanging floral rings from the ceiling and they had a combination of long and round tables for guests to be seated at.
A few of my favorite moments from the reception was their first dance! I was so impressed by their dance moves! I also loved the speeches given by the best man and maid of honor, as well as Sarah’s mom. It was special hearing how loved Sarah and Jarod are and their influence on so many of their family and friends. I will say this was the first wedding I attended that had Karaoke which was a blast! And as always, I love when my couples sneak away during golden hour or sunset to get husband and wife portraits!
The night ended with a sparkler send off and they had so much fun that they ran through the sparklers more than once and even included some of the kids!
It was a perfect day and I am so honored to have been apart of it all!
