When Sarah reached out to me for her engagement photography session in Fayetteville Arkansas, I was so flattered! I’ve known her for years because she’s my massage therapist. I knew that she was dating someone, but didn’t know how serious they were. I found out later that she called me the day after she got engaged to confirm me as her photographer!
I’m super excited to photograph her wedding in October! It’s always so much fun when I get to take pictures of people I already know and who are my friends. Because, I get to be a part of their ceremony and celebrate with them.
Sarah and Jarod are an absolute blast. They’re so fun and chill! They really wanted to do something outdoorsy because they love to go camping. Jarod has a lot of wilderness survival experience as well. Both of them love to be outside, camping and being together under the stars. Even their first date was a hike! So, their engagement session was one of the first places they hiked for a date!
We went to Yellow Rock Trail at Devil’s Den State Park. For an engagement photography session, it’s a great place, only fifteen minutes outside Fayetteville. The hike is beautiful and it’s only a mile and a half. And it ends at a gorgeous lookout.
I was worried because it was the hottest day of the year, at 90 degrees, and 85% humidity. But we were lucky that it didn’t feel that way. I was amazed at how relaxed and “go with the flow” Sarah and Jarod were. It was all just a really positive experience.
They brought two outfits for this session. A lot of my couples choose to do their engagement sessions in nature, so I always bring my trusty pop-up changing tent! I do this so they don’t have to sweat in their clothes on the hike! The first outfit Sarah wore was this really textured, white strapless dress! It was so much fun! I’m glad I got to show their playful side, and got a lot of fun candid shots of them just being sweet and loving.
The second was a more formal/dressy outfit. Sarah wore a beautiful blue flowy gown. There’s one spot of Yellow Rock Trail that’s a cliff and it goes out to a point. It’s a little scary, but they were totally at ease. I was shaking though! We got some awesome photos of them dancing and twirling on this cliffside! It was so much fun and we stayed such a long time getting those amazing pictures, we wound up hiking down in the dark!
I loved getting to work with Sarah and Jarod! And I’m really excited to work with them for their wedding this October! I love you guys!
